I'm very excited about actively participating in the education of my children. Today I'm printing off Alphabet coloring pages, and themed pictures, and preparing nursery rhymes pasting them to construction paper. I'm also organizing the den making it into a preschool friendly environment. Hopefully I can find time to start creating a counting book for Silas and a scrapbook that will have a weekly collection of what he learned. I think it will be fun to look back at the scrapbook for many years to come.
One consideration for our family is Religious education. We are Catholic and my teaching experience is in Catholic schools so I am considering adding some Catholic curriculum to the curriculum. The one I'm considering is Little Saints - A Catholic Preschool Program http://www.catholicpreschool.com/. It sounds like a good program, however it seems like it might require a lot of prep work and it costs 50 dollars. I might just start off teaching religion on my own and add "Little Saints" if I feel it is needed.
As I get the room set up and the scrapbook created I will include pictures for everyone to see!

I picked a curriculum
I've decided that I'm going to try following the Brightly Beaming Resources Step One: Preparatory Curriculum . They seem to have the lessons well thought out and planned. I've also decided to purchased a few items that should help me get started off with homeschooling my preschooler. I've ordered:
Alphabet Flash Cards
Colors and Shapes Flash Cards
Numbers 1 to 26 Flash Cards
Memory Game Cards
A Cork Board
Leap Frog - Letter Factory DVD
It will be a week or so before these items will be delivered so in the mean time I'm going to start printing the lesson plans and preparing the lessons. We also may need to make a trip to our local library to check out some suggested books. If all goes well, I may become even more ambitious and look into their infant program as well.

Who am I?
My name is Jo I am a married stay at home mom to a 2 year old and a 6 month old. Before becoming a stay at home mother I was a high school and middle school math and science teacher. Now that my oldest is quickly approaching the age for preschool I am considering the possibility of homeschooling.
This blog will follow my life as a mother, wife and potentially home school teacher.
